Working my first shift as a Lance Constable for the Outpost was fulfilling! Simon put me on boarder patrol before he left which meant I got to go around saying hi to everyone!
I saw Poet sprucing the Lam and sang a little with her!
Captain Albert was sharpening his throwing knives and I tossed him an apple I had on me.
I helped Larken find one of her butterflies.
Shared a quick drink with the Consortium fellas!
Z was yelling in dwarvish inside the smithy as great gouts of smoke came out! I decided to keep walking by…
I helped Aikenn repair a torn satchel with my handy needle and thread I keep on me.
Then I got to talk to new faces in town. A guy named Drider and there was a lady Corsair and this other pirate with great gear, as well as a couple other adventurers!
Such a delight to patrol!
Then my mind went to my dear friend Burzog who is traveling now and hopefully staying safe alongside Kalen and Simon. A cold wind passed as my mind drifted… an omen.
Then a meadowlark landed upon the Outpost sign I was standing next to and I got the strongest inspiration to write a song right then. It came pouring out of me and I feel it holds a message within. I must sing it for others to see what feelings or visions it may inspire. Maybe at the naming of the town ceremony or to celebrate Burzog’s mayoral journey.
I hesitate to write down any words of the song for I do not know what powers the words yet hold. Whenever a siren writes a new song, it must stay within until the moment comes when the song must be sung – inspiration. For if a song is misused then the power it holds transforms and dangerous repercussions may arise. The first song of death occurred in this manner. The tale of Cybil’s Tears is a story all young sirens learn by heart.
It’s a story of a siren who sang out of spite. A wicked one who wanted to harm and destroy the lives of others all due to her own wounded pride. In the end, Cybil sang not from inspiration but from vengeance and the song clotted the blood within the brain of her own lover… killing them.
I do not fear My Meadowlark song but I must wait to sing it till a time of nature’s choosing. Till then, I patrol!
