After leaving the town of Alevern, I decided to follow the flow of water. I felt it wise to stay out of sight. I have seen several beastfolk rounded up and I do not wish to be among them. As I wandered south with the river I saw a large citadel in the distance. My appearance was sure to draw the wrong kind of attention so I avoided it and made my way slightly east into the forest.

After a few hours the trees began to look charred and misshapen. As if something had bent the branches at odd angles. Eventually it opened up into a large scorched clearing with a collapsed structure at its center. It was clear a battle took place there. I could sense the energy coming from it.

When I approached the structure, I saw that it was the remnants of an old castle. The blast seem to have destroyed what was left of it yet I sense something more. Something strange. I slowly made my way into the ruins and immediately found the source of the blast.

There was a half collapsed hallway. Seems like a shockwave blew out the walls causing the ceiling to collapse. Pinned against the wall under some of the rubble was a knight in black armor with a sword in his hand. I first thought him to be alive judging by the amount of energy that radiated from him though the dagger sticking out of his chest made me think otherwise.

Shrouded in black mist, the air around him sizzled and cracked like that of a rolling fire, almost whispering to me. When I used a board to relieve him of his sword nothing happened. Yet when I went to remove the dagger, the shadowy mist moved up my arms, through my body and into my mind before coming to rest just behind my eyes. My vision went dark and sleep took me.

When I woke, I was in a field with the citadel just north of me. My eyes burn like a thousand suns, sword and dagger still in hand. I can hear people coming this way. Shouting. Searching. I need to move. I need to make my way to the outpost. Either way I can’t stay here.

        From The Mind Of,
        DEMONEUS
