Taking out his journal and brush, Kazuro sat at his desk and began to write.

        “My dearest Koshiro,

Forgive me for the delay on this letter. Things have grown quite busy as of late with my duties to the guard, so it has taken a while for me to find the time. However, my heart for you never wavers.

This last venture with the people of Meadowmere proved to actually be quite profitable, and I finally feel like I have found my place in the guard. I did successfully apprehend Moonshadow, a mischievous butterfly and one of the fae, however, he had escaped by the time a trial was to be held. I did get a reward for his capture, but the feeling that I did something that suits my capabilities far exceeded the coin I had gotten as a reward. (Don’t tell my sister.)

Another thing that occurred was that I was approached by a young warrior who desired to learn how to dodge. The look of eagerness in his eyes reminded me of a young version of you. (At least he held his weapon by the correct direction.)”

He chuckled as he was reminded of when he first trained Koshiro, his husband held a sword by the pointy end.

“You would have definitely given me some words, because I used similar tactics. I told him to lay his sword down and made him dodge the attacks with my blade. Granted, I did move slowly, so he could get used to the idea, then we went faster as things went along. He did get hit a couple of times, but a few stitches and bandages did wonders.”

“Of course, the young warrior did possess an ability that I could use, and that was knockout, so in exchange, he is teaching knockout as payment for me teaching him dodge.”

He would smile as he would pause in his writing and look to the stars for a moment.

“I miss those days, our days in the arena, when I took you under my wing and taught you the way of the sword, but then again, I have taught you all I know.

For now, I remain a guard of Meadowmere, and I will protect it’s people, just as I have done the people of Hiretsune. Who knows, I may one day build a dojo here.

I hope to see you again one day, my love.
        Your ever-loving starlight.
        Kazuro Rai Yagoni Itsumo”

He would close the journal and put it away. He would then look over towards the mask that he had crafted and he would gently place his hand on it.

“The heart to the spirit, Always as one.
A bond of love never undone.
To ride into battle sword clasped in hand,
Yet my heart is always at your command.”
