Captain’s Log and Report – Battle for Meadowmere

It seems like just days ago that we named our newest community and township, Meadowmere. The development from an old abandoned military outpost and the work that everyone put into building it into a sanctuary for all is a source of pride for me. I was there the day we first went in and routed numerous nests of Kobolds and Horde.

That is why I feel such a sense of loss and guilt at having given the order for Retreat after Rousseau forces marched in and overtook us. Zeravica’s defiance in following my order to retreat shows just how much this town means to all of us. She was ready to die for her home. I would be as well, but the mission comes first. This guilt is only further magnified by the capture of Kelora, and MEAT who both relied on me for protection and leadership.

The one fortunate thing for them is that they are being held by one of the finest, and most honorable soldiers I have ever met or fought with on the battlefield. He is the “People’s” Champion, so he is very connected with those that are not part of the noble houses or aristocracy. He will treat them with respect and mercy during their imprisonment. He will also make sure that the town and its structures are well maintained and not destroyed, unlike his De Jardin counterparts.

I sent word by raven that Meadowmere had fallen to those that braved the trek to Hexhaven. I can only hope that they were successful and made it out. I have faith, by the blessing of Ione, that they will get the message and meet us at Haven where we can make a final stand.

Lord Reynard’s plan will hopefully come to a successful conclusion there at Haven as he forces along with Norman’s and the Jernigan’s will close in behind the De Jardin/Renaux/Rousseau invaders cutting them off from escape.

Along the way to Haven, my group have encountered people and troops who are also fleeing west. They report mass use of poisoning to debilitate troops and hurt supply caches. This means that De Jardin more than likely is making its final push to finish this war as quickly as they have started it. With tainted food, and spoiled livestock as mentioned by Lady Chambers when she came to visit, I expect that we will be running on rations until we make it to Haven in several days.

The wounded from the Battle of Meadowmere have been tended to and we are now focused on strategizing for the assault that will surely follow us to Haven. I hope Kalen is ready for all of us, and I hope that Arianna made it out of Hexhaven alive. We shall soon see….
