After receiving word of the De Jardin forces holding the students of Hexhaven school captive. I accompanied a small strike team from Meadowmere to liberate them; the plan was for half of us to take the front and cause a distraction, while the other half went in the back and freed the children. Our groups journeyed there separately. Along the way, we encountered a small fort bristling with horde, and went around. Once we arrived at Hexhaven, it became evident the De Jardin were experimenting with the horde there, and using some device to exert some control over them. They also had artillery; our distraction consisted of us attempting to neutralize it and deal with the horde, while our stealth group moved in through the back of the school.
At one point, I managed to make my way into the school building, and came upon the convict mage Jone Danceweaver, who was assisting the De Jardin with this control of the horde. I attempted to engage her, but only managed to destroy a magical device she had been using before she blinked away. (Other devices were retrieved; it seems they have some magic power to repel horde). Unfortunately, the situation had become too chaotic by that point for me to pursue Jone, as we were outnumbered and had casualties.
Apart from the escape of Jone, the mission was successful and the children were liberated; however, a Captain D from our group was take captive after receiving direct cannon fire.
Not long after we began our journey back to Meadowmere did we recieve word of the De Jardin attack there, and their defeat. I regret that I had not been there to assist in the defense, but it is unlikely we would have made the difference; I am told they were greatly outnumbered and quickly overwhelmed. We were given directions to the town of Haven, the details of which will be in my next report.
