Hiretsune: a plane built on redemption.

Long ago, Hiretsune went by another name a name lost to time. Some may have called it Hades, others the Underworld, but it was all still the same, an afterlife for the convicted criminals with no hope of solace or escape, where everyone was assigned their own personal eternity to reflect their deeds. The landscape itself reflected that of sulfur and brimstone, but Hiretsune was different. It was both embracing its conditions and rising above them at the same time.

Enter Kazuro, a man whose tragic story helped shape this place, a Japanese samurai who turned the landscape into a Zen garden. Torii gates and temples adorned the landscape. Sturdy bridges held suspended above rivers of lava. The volcanic soil was perfect for growing hearty trees which withstood the inclimate temperatures, their red and gold leaves unsigned in spite of the conditions. There was a mansion, a training grounds, an arena, a place for festival and festivities, places where one could work in any craft. What was once meant to be a place of torment was transformed into a place where one could find a better life and possibly a second chance. Hiretsune was a place where, much like Astrel, one could find a place they could call home, in spite of its harsh climate. However, to understand Hiretsune and how it came to be, would be to understand Kazuro himself. What warranted such a being to a place such as this, and how was a place so beautiful the source of his torment? To be honest, the reason is because he molded Hiretsune after a place where a tragedy happened long ago, a tragedy which began his journey, his home.
However, he did transform his place into a safe haven for those that saught a better life and were tired of the harsh judgements by those that were blessed by the dieties of light. Kazuro was known as a light that shines in darkness, finding the good in even the most condemned souls, giving them a better purpose and bringing hope to a better future. That is what Hiretsune came to be.

Hiretsune was a territory on the border between two greater realms, one was the Realms of Light ruled by a White Phoenix called “Lady Phoenix” the embodiment of all things good and pure, and the other is called the Shadowlands which was ruled by Kazuro’s father, Ral’tack, a black phoenix which would bring about the end of all things. Yet, in spite of his dark nature, Kazuro actually found that Ral actually did have some good qualities in him. He was accepting of anyone from anywhere, judging beings by their deeds instead of what they were. Some creatures were considered dark because of what they were, and so the beings of light condemned them without giving them a chance. So, when Kazuro created Hiretsune, Ral saw it fit to fill a need that his realm was missing, and so it was not destroyed. In fact, it flourished in Kazuro’s hands.

Ever since Kazuro and Koshiro’s disappearance, the land had been placed under new rulers and caretakers, one of whom is Kazuro and Koshiro’s son, Hoshiyomi and the other remains a mystery.
