Dear Grim, how are you sweetheart?
Listen I have some exciting news. I got the resources from The Family and it looks like I’ll be able to open a few new taverns in port cities everywhere. I’m so excited! But of course the people in charge dont think the way I do things will turn a profit fast enough for their taste. They want the menus in our new places to have to list things like “Herons in crowns” and “Hopping Grapes” but I prefer to make simple dishes. Recipes that don’t need to much fussing and fixing.
Like a sack of Potatoes for example. With a little of my attention I can add all sorts of things to make it profitable. A side of Meat, a little Time, a Sage sprig or two and of course a whole barrel of wine.
Assuming none of my grocery carts lose a wheel on the road and need repairing, I’de have all the ingredients for a successful menu.
The only real danger to a recipe is leaving it alone for to long. You have to stir the pot if you want to keep it from burning. A scortched Potato simply can’t be used and must be thrown to the pigs. No point in wasting food even if it is burnt.
The reward for all my hard work is a bussiness of my own and the comfort of knowing that all my Families trust and resources haven’t been squandered.
I do hope you’re keeping yourself fed dear. I’d hate to find you hungry and cold along your route. I’ll be sure to fatten you up with all of your favorite treats and share some of that excellent wine with you soon.
Lots of Sugar,
The Cook
P.S. Please feel free to share my letter with your friends and let them know I’m excited for us to share a meal together soon.
