        Report #338

Rumors proved true within the Cobalt Mangroves, though not in the way that was expected. I did discover an aquatic reptile that glowed in hypnotic patterns, but the gator itself was not the direct origin, but a victim. I found the source to be a parasitic algae that started to take seed in it’s host. While entertaining to look at, the native species did not seem to attain a mutualist relationship with this new algae and presented signs of declining health, symptoms showed high levels of exhaustion and skin irritation. Stool and scale samples were taken showing a deeper infection and elevation of toxicity.

Origin of algae feels fae in nature due to colorful and sinister nature, though with the increase of portal activity, source could prove somewhere else entirely. I contacted a local apothecary to supply bicarbonate of soda which has been applied to most effected region of the mangroves, which fortunately was not a large area. I have gathered a sample and have educated locals on spotting and treating of outbreaks. Name of discovered new species Phycophyta Kaleidoscopi, common name Fairy Fire. Through diligence, this invasive threat should be neutralized. Full recovery does not look possible for infected reptile. I will turn in my sketches and samples as soon as proper testing is completed.

I am currently on my way to my next assignment with a few newly met companions. Lucky happenstance brought me to them, they are originally from the outpost that I am assigned to. I will send word after my arrival and settling in with the local branch. Observation of the celebration of Growth may delay my reports.
