Dear Marcus,
As a member of the Consortium, I am required to tell you the this course of action is wreckless and irresponsible. That being said, a heist may be just the thing to lift my spirits. The hunt for Corvis Koralis has gone cold. If this library holds any information as to his whereabouts then I am obligated to assist you. I have instructed Mudd to deliver a few of my weapons as well as some supplies to the Blushing Mermaid Inn. I look forward to working with you and the rest of your party.
Sincerely,
Captain Albert Alexander DravenOver breakfast that morning, there was talk about the previous night and what the day would bring. We had just finished and were congregating outside when someone spotted a group of people approaching.
As they drew near I could make out 4 heavily armed guards quickly transporting a prisoner through Haven. My mind told me to stay out of it but the prisoner seemed rather important to the people here and so we ask who they are with and what crimes were committed. They claim to be of House Jernigan but refused to give more information.
As diplomacy slowly starts to fail I think to myself that we have them grossly outnumbered and they are likely tired from the walking. Should be quick work. “Stay back or I will be forced to attack.” one says as we surround them blocking their route. Almost wish we would’ve listened but I hate seeing people in chains.
One of the guards had a Sunder Gun(enchanted blaster) and opened fire destroying my sword and makeshift shield. Luckily, after that tournament left me temporarily weaponless, I carry a spare. Huh, Simon was right haha. The battle continues and we manage to rescue him but the guards weren’t so lucky.
Little was learned of these “guards” and it seems the group have silently agreed to make them dissappear but I fear this won’t end well. The Many-Eyed Wanderer kidnapped Poet but it seems like fate wasn’t in its favor as Poet came back unharmed. Hmm tough bird. We tend to the wounded and make necessary repairs to our equipment.
Tully Eye continued to send his Nightmare Creatures at us and while we fought off wave after wave Aikken was kidnapped as well. As we finish off the last of the nightmares and try to figure out how to find and rescue him, he comes back with news that the creature does have a weakness. We all head into the tavern to discuss it and eat.
During lunch, Mukon and Aikken brew up a plan as strong as Simon’s coffee. Impressive bit of tactics, I might add. Worked like a charm. The wanderer took the bait and our people made it back safely. Now we wait.
The mental fog was getting thicker. Everyone was acting strange or suspicious. People attacking one another. I heard someone was held hostage for a short time. The Many-Eyed Wanderer came back and after an epic battle and some finesse Mukon was able to remove the creature’s head although there was some debate on whether it was still considered a head.
Some quick thinking lead to the discovery that the creature had offspring. This was an immediate threat to the community so a hunting party was formed. The size of the hunting party seemed a bit excessive at the time but when we finally located the creature I feel like more were needed. Redcaps. Angry. Little. Redcaps. At least a half dozen. Chaos ensued but we accomplished what we set out to do.
Afterward I went to the tavern for a drink or 2 to steady my nerves. Redcaps. Angry little things. I must have had a few too many because I woke up in a groggy panic to howling. Nobody in sight. I went outside and saw lights circling the distance. Slowly I stumbled my way toward it cursing. As I approached the light got brighter for a moment and vanished followed by some commotion.
I entered small clearing to find everyone around Morpheus and surrounded by hounds. They were beaten and bloody but alive. Was he to blame? Or was it the hounds? As these thoughts cross my mind I find myself reaching for my sword. What was I doing? As my hand closed around the handle I heard someone yell that Tully Eye was dead. How long was I asleep? I didn’t drink that much did I?
After hearing of the battle that took place and the heroic efforts of my friends I apologized to them for being absent and we spent the rest of the night in high spirits and a few more drinks. Songs were sung and games were played. Sleep came swiftly that night.
During breakfast that morning, I thought about the night before and my reaction to seeing these people potentially “in harm’s way”. Only people I would’ve done that for went down with my ship. I guess these folks are growing on me.
After breakfast there was a meeting in the town hall. A man was on stage wearing a tricorn hat and more blasters than Captain Kazaan had. Must be the guy Mudd was talking about at the tournament ha. As he speaks to the townsfolk, I notice officials are present from every nation.
I spotted the official from Vertigron but luckily he didn’t recognize me or I’d have been the next one being escorted by armed guards. Sometimes I’m thankful for Paradigm’s secrecy. There will be a summit held soon to figure out the probability of a rebellion and to negotiate a peaceful resolution. I hope for peace but war is a very lucrative business. After the meeting, goodbyes were shared as people began to pack their carts. My heart felt heavier than normal as we mount up to leave.
“To the people of Haven, May the wind forever fill your sails.”
“And to my new found friends, until we meet again.”
